First things first, you cannot have a party without guests.

Guest List

My theory when hosting a party is the more the merrier! Make your list of guests and send the invites. Don’t worry about spending a lot of money on invitations, there are plenty of evites online for free. Don’t forget to request an RSVP so you make sure to have enough food and drinks for everyone.

Food

Make sure you have enough food for all of your guests. We like to make sure we have enough for 2 sittings. You can do hot dogs and hamburgers for the early meal and chicken and ribs or steak for the later meal. Have people bring side dishes, deserts or beverages this way you do not have the full expense of the food.

Beverages

Since it is the start of summer, and depending on where you live, it could be very hot outside, so plan on having enough cold beverages for everyone. Make sure you have plenty of water and non-alcoholic beverages for children and non-drinkers. If you will have a lot of beer drinkers, it might be a good idea to order a keg.

Another option is frozen drinks, there is nothing like sipping on a frozen drink on a hot day. We host a lot of summer parties and invested in the single Margaritaville blender, but moved up to the triple. It was the best investment we made for our summer parties. It is a huge hit and accommodates several people at the same time. You can also make non-alcoholic frozen beverages for children and non-drinkers.

Party Supplies

Make sure not to forget the party supplies. You will need the basics, forks, knives, plates, cups, etc. Don’t worry about spending a lot of money, Walmart has a great selection that are budget friendly.

Decorations

If you want to decorate your yard or house, this set comes with 29 pieces for a festive atmosphere.

Seating

This is where your RSVP list comes in handy. Take a count of your guest list and if you do not have enough chairs to accommodate everyone, ask your friends to bring some over before the party so you can have them set up.

Coolers

Coolers sometimes get overlooked until it is too late. You will need a least 2 coolers to keep the beverages cold on a hot summer day. Have one just for non-alcoholic beverages and one or two for the beers. We use these rolling coolers, they have a handle and are very sturdy. Don’t forget the ice. Make sure you have enough for the coolers and for drinks.

Pool Accessories/Water Toys

If you have a pool, make sure you have enough towels for everyone to use. A fun idea for the pool is a volleyball game, Walmart has one that is reasonably priced. If you don’t have a pool, a water slide is always a fun way to stay cool.
