Halloween has arrived! That means it’s time for some scary and spooky Halloween Movies. Grab the popcorn and dim the lights and be prepared to be scared. We also added some not so scary movies for the kids.

Scary Halloween Movies

Halloween – This is possibly the most classic horror movie of all time. You’ve seen it so many times, but it doesn’t get old. You can’t have Halloween without watching the movie named after the day.

Scream – The first film in the Scream franchise is witty, scary, and fun. It is the best one in the franchise.

Psycho – A woman on the run checks into a secluded motel, and soon regrets her decision. Alfred Hitchcock really delivers the scary in this original 1960 thriller.

The Amityville Horror – A family move into a large house where a mass murder was committed. They start to experience strange, inexplicable hauntings of dangerous spirits.

Children of the Corn – A young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believes that everyone over age 18 must be killed. Another classic that you’ll want to watch year after year.

A Nightmare on Elm Street – A monstrous spirit of a slain child murderer seeks revenge by invading the dreams of teenagers whose parents were responsible for his untimely death.

Friday the 13th – A group of camp counselors trying to reopen a summer camp called Crystal Lake, which has a grim past, are stalked by a mysterious killer.

Poltergeist – Strange things begin to happen when a young family moves to a new home. They don’t pay to much attention to it
until their daughter gets sucked into another dimension.

The Shining – A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence,
while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.

It – A group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown. This one will really keep you up at night.

The Exorcist – When a 12-year-old girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her.

Misery – After a famous author is rescued from a car crash by a super fan of his novels, he comes to realize that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and abuse.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show – A newly-engaged couple have a breakdown in an isolated area and must seek shelter at the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-n-Furter. This is a rare horror movie that is also a musical.

The Sixth Sense – A frightened, withdrawn boy who communicates with spirits seeks the help of a disheartened child psychologist. It has one of the most famous movie quotes ever, “I see dead people”.

Family-Friendly Halloween Movies

Hocus Pocus – A curious kid moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of evil witches. A magical cat and witches, perfect for Halloween.

Ghostbusters – A movie with another famous quote, “Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!” A fun, hilarious movie for the entire family.

The Haunted Mansion – Loosely based on the Disney attraction of the same name, it stars Eddie Murphy as a realtor who becomes trapped in a haunted mansion.

The Addams Family – When long-lost Uncle Fester reappears after twenty-five years the family is unaware they are being played by con artists.

Young Frankenstein – If you want a funny Halloween movie instead of a scary one, this is the movie for you. This film is a parody of the classic horror films that will have you laughing all the way through.

Beetlejuice – The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and they hire a devious spirit to drive them out.

Practical Magic – Two sisters use a little bit of magic to help them break a family curse to find true love.

Twitches – Twin girls who were separated at birth reunite and discover they have magical powers and must use their powers to save the world in which they were born, where their birth mother still lives.

Casper -An afterlife therapist and his daughter meet a friendly young ghost when they move into a crumbling mansion in order to
rid the premises of wicked spirits.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – Last but not least, this one is a Halloween and Christmas movie. Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town,and becomes obsessed with celebrating the holiday.
